This is the most important of all the items you may possess. I am sure you know we have The Old Leather Book wherein we keep a great history. I am an apprentice keeper of it. Indeed the only apprentice keeper. It is of preeminent importance to keep an Old Leather Book. You must write all your most beautiful thoughts and lachrymose poems and stories in it. You must decorate the edges of the paper with small and delicate images. You must put in your annotations perpetually and especially read and re-read it. Those are the rules of keeping an Old Leather Book. Oh, you may also chronicle the important happenings of life. Events and circumstances. Injustices. New magic discovered. That sort of thing. Mementos and keepsake notes may be preserved within the pages of your Old Leather Book if you do not have a Mahogany Box. I do so wish we could give you a Mahogany Box, but that was Rose's department and she has dragged her feet and put off her duties and responsibilities and has not made it available yet, I am sorry to say. I never neglect my duties. I always keep a great history. I always decorate the edges of my pages beautifully. I understand the importance of a history. Without a history you are like a castle of sand built upon a seashore. There is no lasting for thousands of years. You end up interminably drifting in the wide wide wide ocean with no mooring or sail and eventually a great big fish comes and swallows you up. And that is the end of you. Now, you do not want to be swallowed up by a great fish do you? So you must obtain an Old Leather Book and maintain your history.
